SENIOR CLINICAL COMPLIANCE CONSULTANT
David is a Registered Nurse and holds degrees in Nursing, Human Services, as well as a B.A. and M.S. in Health Services Administration. David has over 25 years’ experience in health administration. Prior to joining the Compliagent team, David worked in the acute hospital setting as Service Line Director; Executive Clinical Director overseeing Medical, Oncology and Respiratory units; Systems Director of Rehab, Director of Neuro-psych and CEO of an Acute Rehab Hospital. David has also worked as a Director of Nursing and Regional Clinical Director for a multi-facility chain in the skilled nursing industry, including management and oversight of sub-acute units. David has spent the last seven years of his career as a clinical consultant.
Some of David’s career highlights include development of a SNF-TCU program, oversight of an initial licensing survey in the acute hospital setting, management of large 180+ bed facilities that included Medicare distinct parts, sub-acute and behavioral health services, including secured units. David has excelled at entering facilities that had experienced failed surveys and prepared them for successful re-surveys and helped facilities achieve and maintain five-star ratings. In addition to success with state licensing surveys, David has also successfully completed JCAHO sub-acute accreditation.
David is at his best when conducting on-site facility visits to audit, train and mentor clinical staff in best practices standards and compliance with Medicare and Medicaid regulations. David is professionally gratified by his close involvement with clinical leaders and staff in the pursuit of ongoing quality endeavors. One of David’s primary roles as a clinical consultant for Compliagent is to conduct Medicare Part A and Medicare Part B audits for our clients to assess medical necessity and ensure documentation compliance. David also leads the Compliagent team for mock survey engagements.
David is wound certified and a member of APIC with Infection Control Preventionist designation. David is certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) by the Compliance Certification Board (CCB). David is also a member of the American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordination (AANAC) and has completed AANAC’s MDS, quality and ICD-10 training and obtained a certificate from the Centers for Disease Control for Nursing Home Infection Preventionist training. David developed and taught CAHF’s DON training seminar from 1988-1996.
David enjoys spending time with his family which include children and grandchildren. David and his wife enjoy traveling in their RV, vacationing at their time-share in Hawaii as well as time spent at their remote cabin on 120 acres. David has a love of cars and on Saturdays restores vintage cars with his son-in-law. In his 20’s David spent three years living in a tee-pee and building a log cabin in Alaska.
